What is the Federal Firearms Transaction Record (Printable Form 4473)? 

The 4473 form was issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. You should fill this form if you decided to buy a firearm from a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder.

Filling out 4473 Form

The form consists of two sections: A and B. The first one is submitted by a buyer or transferee. Section B is filled by a seller or a transferor. The buyer has to provide the following information:

• Home address;

• Place and date of birth, sex, weight, height;

• Ethnicity, skin color;

• Answers to nine personal questions;

• Answers to the questions related to citizenship.

Section B consists of 6 rows. The seller will be asked to give the answers to the questions related to the gun license and the permission to sell firearms. On the bottom of the document is Section C that has to be completed by a transferee. There are only two rows: signature and date.
