General Affidavit is a written statement that can be used in many situations. It can be used in connection with the filing or response to a petition in court, or to provide guarantees to other parties in extrajudicial transactions (for example, a promise to the buyer that you are the owner of a particular property). This most spread way to use the General Affidavit is to notify the court about the witness’s absence.

If a witness cannot be present at the court, they can write a General Affidavit. This statement is a written denotation of fact. In order to have power at the court, the form must be signed by a notary public or commissioner of oath.
