What Is Form 990 EZ 2019
Form 990 EZ 2019 is the shorter version of the IRS Form 990, designed for small to medium-sized tax-exempt organizations. It serves as an annual information return that these entities must file to maintain their tax-exempt status. The form is crafted to provide the IRS and the public with financial information about the nonprofit's operations, including revenue, expenses, and overall mission advancement. Despite its abbreviated nature, the EZ form still demands detailed disclosures to ensure transparency and compliance with tax laws.
When to Use IRS 2019 Form 990 Ez
Organizations should utilize the IRS 2019 Form 990 EZ under the following scenarios:
- Gross receipts are less than $200,000, and total assets are less than $500,000 at the end of the tax year.
- The organization opts not to file the full Form 990 for simplicity, given it meets the criteria above.
- Nonprofit entities that wish to provide essential financial data without the extensive detail required in the full Form 990.
- These criteria aim to reduce the reporting burden on smaller entities while maintaining accountability and transparency in their financial operations.
