How To Fill Out Form IT 205 Instruction
Section 1: Type of Entity and Basic Information
Identify the type of entity you are filing for from the options provided (Decedent’s estate, Simple trust, etc.).
Fill in the date the entity was created.
Enter the name of the estate or trust as shown on federal Form SS-4.
Provide the name and title of the fiduciary responsible for filing the return.
Enter the identification number of the estate or trust.
Provide the address of the fiduciary.
List the decedent's Social Security number if applicable.
Indicate if this is an initial, final, or amended return.
Section 2: Income and Tax Calculations
List the total income for the entity.
Calculate the New York adjusted gross income as per the provided instructions.
Note any amounts from Form IT-205-A Schedule 1 if applicable.
Calculate the federal taxable income of the fiduciary.
Adjust the taxable income with any New York modifications.
