How to File Manitoba Personal Tax Credit Refund Form?
If you are a Manitoba resident, you must file Form TD1MB to claim your tax credits when you file your income tax and benefits return. Here's what you need to know about this form.
- Your first step is to gather your personal information. Here you will need your Social Security number, date of birth, and address. You also need to know the amounts of any other income you earned during the year, such as interest from investments or income from other work.
- Basic Personal Amount. You can claim the basic personal amount if you were a resident of Manitoba on December 31 of the tax year for which you are filing.
- Age Amount. The age amount is a tax credit that is available to seniors. You must be 65 years of age or older to qualify for the age amount
- Retirement Income Amount. Include all amounts of eligible retirement income you received in the tax year. This includes amounts you received from a retirement plan, superannuation fund, annuity, or retirement income fund. If you and your spouse or common-law partner both received retirement income, including the total amount on one return.
- Tuition amounts. You (or your spouse or common-law partner) can declare amounts for tuition, education, and books for an eligible student who is a child or grandchild of your spouse or common-law partner.
- Disability Amount. You may qualify for this amount if you, your spouse or common-law partner, or your dependent child has a serious and long-term mental or physical impairment. This impairment must be verified by a qualified physician.
- Amount for a spouse or common-law partner is a tax credit that is available to taxpayers who are married or in a common-law relationship.
- Dependent Amount. You can claim this amount for a dependent age 18 or older who lives with you and for whom you have provided more than 50% financial support throughout the tax year.
- Caregiver's Amount. You can claim this amount if you provided care and support for a parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, niece, or nephew 18 years of age or older who lives with you in Manitoba.
